What’s in My Camera Bag

Camera – Nikon 300s

Um… This body rocks. It’s at a great price point. Most definitely a pro body – that won’t break the bank. What I like most about this body is that fact that it has dual card slots. You set it so that the images back each other up. As soon as you shoot? One image goes on to a SD Card. And the other to a CF card.

As a note – I never take the CF card out. I tell you. I can’t stand CF cards. They have so many pins on it – and every time you take it in and out – it just double the chances that your going to bend one those pins. I so much prefer SD cards. But at least this camera has both. So this how I do it. I shoot and double over to both cards. And when I download –  I take out my SD Card only.

The best part of this camera is it’s ISO range. It’s clean. I shoot a lot of stuff at 1600 and sometimes more. It’s very clean.

If there’s a negative? And a way negative? I wish the camera wasn’t so easy to change settings. I tell you – I can be shooting and low and behold – I hit a button and twist the dial and I find myself accidentally changing a setting.

But overall – this camera is a great choice.

Lenses – Four Total

I only use four lens. It’s how I roll. Also – please note that my camera – 300s has a crop sensor. Here they are:

Sigma 10mn 2.8

This is my true extreme Fisheye. Love it.

But so you know… I use it less that 10 percent of the time. Yes… it’s a great lens – but it’s my “dramatic lens.”

Sigma 15mm 2.8

This is my main Fisheye lens. When people as me – “If I had to buy just one Fisheye Lens – which should I chose?” I always tell them the Sigma 15mm 2.8.

The reason is – it’s enough “Fisheye” to do the job… but you can back off and it becomes a GREAT ultra-wide lens.

Love it. I use lens a lot. I consider it a must have.

Yep… if I could only use one lens. This is would be in. This is my main lens and I use it all the time.

Ok… here’s why I love the Sigma 85mm 1.4 over any other lens. And so you know – I have nothing against Nikon. I use a Nikon Body.

This lens is SHARP and it’s fast. The depth of field is amazing. But if you ever used an 85mm…. you’ll know focusing is a learning curve.

I love this lens. It’s the one I would have if I could only chose one.

Ok… here’s a tip… MOST of the time? When I shoot? I’m at 1.8. I only take it to 1.4 when I need that extra light . So basically? I use this as a 1.8 with the “back up” if I need more light.

This is my one lens that I have to have – but I wish I never had to use. What does that mean?

In short – I don’t see how any pro photographer can get by without a 50mm…

Yes… I prefer a 85mm. But there’s just sometimes you just have to back off a little.

But… I will say that I use my 50mm 1.4 a TON. That’s because I it’s ultra fast on group shots. Yes… I wish I never had to do another group shot. But it’s what it is.
